How to Measure Drapery

  • Step 1: Plan Rod / Track Placement

Decide where to install the rod or track. For a taller look and better coverage, place it above the window frame and extend it beyond both sides of the window.

  • Step 2: Measure Rod / Track Width

Measure the full width of your installed rod or track from end to end. This is the width you’ll use when ordering. Our default fullness is designed to work well for most windows. If you prefer a fuller, more gathered look, you may choose a wider curtain size.

  • Step 3: Measure Drapery Length

Measure from the rod, track, or hook position down to your desired curtain endpoint. Use this number as your finished drapery length.

  • Step 4: Choose Finished Length

Measure from the rod, track, or hook position down to your desired endpoint. For a clean floor-length look, measure to the floor and deduct 1/2 inch. For puddle length, add 2–4 inches. For sill length, deduct about 1/2 inch from the sill measurement.
