Memory Training is a professional finishing service designed to help custom curtains hold clean, even pleats and fall in a smooth vertical line. Before shipping, each panel is carefully arranged, steamed, shaped, and set so the fabric develops a natural “memory” of its folds.

The result is a more polished look, less manual adjusting after installation, and curtains that feel closer to a designer showroom finish.

What Is Memory Training?

New curtains often arrive with creases from folding and packing. Once installed, the fabric may also need time to settle into its final shape. Some panels can flare outward, lose their pleat line near the bottom, or hang unevenly during the first few weeks.

Memory Training helps solve this by guiding the fabric into its intended structure before the curtains reach your home. Through controlled steaming, pressing, and shaping, the fabric is encouraged to retain consistent pleats whether the curtains are open or closed.

Memory-Trained vs. Non-Trained Drapery

Memory-trained curtains are designed to look structured and balanced. The pleats remain more consistent, the fabric falls more smoothly, and the overall look feels polished.

Non-trained curtains can still be beautiful, but they may look more relaxed at first. The folds may shift, spread out, or lose shape toward the bottom, especially after shipping or during the early days of hanging.

1. Pleat Preparation
   Each panel is arranged according to its header style and intended fold direction.

2. Shaping
   The drapery is placed into molds or carefully aligned sections to guide the pleats into a consistent structure.

3. Steam Setting
   Professional steam and heat are applied to relax the fibers and help the fabric remember the desired shape.

4. Cooling & Stabilizing
   The curtains remain in position as the fabric cools, allowing the pleats to settle naturally.

5. Careful Packing
   Panels are folded and packed along the pleat direction to help preserve the trained shape during transit.

Some header styles may not require or support Memory Training because their appearance is created mainly by the hardware or construction method. If a style is not suitable, we recommend using the standard finish for that curtain type.

What to Expect After Delivery

Because curtains are folded for shipping, light creases may still appear when you first unpack them. This is normal. Hang the curtains as soon as possible and allow the panels to fall naturally. Most minor shipping creases will relax over time.

For best results:

• Hang the curtains promptly after delivery
• Arrange the folds by hand following the trained pleat direction
• Keep the panels hanging freely for the first few days
• Use light steaming if needed, without pressing directly into delicate fabric
• Avoid storing trained curtains tightly folded for long periods
